The Women in the Global Battery Industry (WGBI) is proud to spotlight Donna Snyder, a long-time industry leader whose journey from graphic design to Vice President of Marketing & Advertising at East Penn Manufacturing reflects both adaptability and excellence.
🚀 Career Journey: From Design to Driving Innovation
Donna Snyder didn’t set out to join the battery industry—but fate had other plans. After graduating with a degree in communication design, she applied to a local battery manufacturer with an opening in its advertising department. What began as a design role blossomed into a decades-long career at East Penn Manufacturing, where she now serves as Vice President of Marketing & Advertising, leading a dynamic team of 25 professionals.
“I never thought this would be a lifetime career,” Donna reflects. “But the family-oriented culture, the helpful and patient co-workers, and their strong values were aligned with mine.” From developing cutting-edge marketing initiatives to representing East Penn at Battery Council International (BCI) events, Donna has helped shape how the battery industry is seen—both inside and outside its walls.
💡 Industry Insights: Shaping Perspectives and Breaking Barriers
Donna has been a trailblazer in a traditionally male-dominated space. “Starting my career in a traditionally male-dominated field required navigating through uncharted territories,” she says. “I discovered that by staying focused and leveraging unique strengths, you can accomplish any goal, proving that gender does not define capabilities.”
Her proudest achievement? Building and mentoring a high-performing marketing and advertising team that continually brings innovative ideas to the company. “Fostering a collaborative environment that drives creativity and excellence has been a highlight of my career.”

East Penn is a committed supporter of WGBI, with 41 women across departments participating in virtual programming this year alone. Donna has also engaged deeply in WGBI’s mentorship programs. “Mentoring has provided me with countless personal and professional benefits,” she shares. “Celebrating the successes of my mentees is particularly rewarding.”
🌟 Advice and Inspiration
For women considering careers in the battery industry, Donna offers this advice: “If you are looking to join one of the most dynamic, innovative, and impactful industries, then being part of the battery industry should be your top choice. Batteries are ubiquitous…essential to our mobility and the energy that drives commerce and keeps our digital lives available 24/7.”
As for inspiration, Donna looks to Ruth Bader Ginsburg for her resilience and to Sally Breidegam Miksiewicz, former East Penn CEO, for her drive and passion. “I have been fortunate to have numerous professional role models who have mentored me over the years. These East Penn leaders and mentors have consistently taken the time to deepen my understanding, challenge me to grow, and support me through difficult times.”
